This 2018 Boston Bruins team is catching a lot of attention.

The Boston Bruins is typically thought of as an older team, consisting of players such as Zdeno Chara, Tuukka Rask, Patrice Bergreon, Brad Marchand, all over the age of 30. But this year, the Bruins filled their team up with young players under the age of 26: Charlie McAvoy, Jake DeBrusk, Matt Grzelcyk, Brandon Carlo and a new player starting on the team Ryan Donato.

The teams record is 49-17-12 and are in first place in the Eastern Conference. In their two recent games the Bruins beat the Dallas Stars and Minnesota Wild. Top scorers are Brad Marchand with an average of 80 points for this year and tailing behind is David Pastrnak with 73 points this year and Patrice Bergeron with 56 points.

But most of the attention right now is on junior Harvard hockey star, Ryan Donato, who was recently on the US 2018 Olympic team. Donato’s home state is Massachusetts, from the town of Scituate. The Bruins picked him up on March 18th and signed him to a two year contract.

Currently, the Bruins are struggling with 3 injured players, which is taking an impact on the team. In response, the Bruins are putting pressure on their younger players and Donato is one that is stepping up and taking the spotlight.

On Tuesday, the Bruins played the Jets. The teams went into overtime and when Donato stepped onto the line, he took off with the puck, making a sweet shot but the team still fell short. The Bruins lost 4-5 to the Jets.

The Bruins might have a chance to go to the Stanley Cup again; the last time the Bruins made the Stanley Cup championship was back in 2011. Go Bruins!
