On Saturday, May 12th, Nashoba’s International Thespian Society held their annual banquet at the Portuguese Club in Hudson. The banquet is held at the end of each year to celebrate the fall play and spring musical, honor the seniors, induct new members, announce the new executive board and distribute awards.

The banquet started with opening remarks by the current ITS vice president, senior Colby Storey. His heart-felt and comedic speech kicked off the ceremony with the right kind of vibe.

Next, the officers started to hand out the Denny Awards.  “The awards started, I don’t know how many years ago,” explained Hannah Gould, current ITS president. “After their performances, students went to Denny’s for breakfast at 3am. They gave each other awards using items on the table. They eventually brought the idea to their school and the Denny’s were created.”

The winners of these accolades were chosen by ITS members on a survey that was shared with them a few months back. Some memorable awards from the night where Best Techie, which was awarded to Riley Seith, Best Rising Starlet, which went to Julia Thier, and Most Devoted Class Player, which went to Colbey Storey.

Hannah Gould then announced the new officers of the ITS club: Elena Naze, President; Sophia Lauer, VP;  Finn Hogan, Treasure; Lauren Thier, Secretary, and Katie Coen, Director of Marketing.

At the end of the ceremony, Mrs. Foley made closing remarks. She recited a beautiful and heartfelt poem which she wrote and dedicated to the seniors.  She encouraged seniors to take theatre with them as they depart for new adventures. After that, she awarded the Honor Thespian award to Hannah Gould, which is given to a student who has earned 60 points for their meritorious work in theatre.

They ended the night with an ice cream sundae bar and dancing. Over all, the banquet was a wonderful, memorable night. Whether the seniors are going off to study Nursing, Physiology, or Film, they will always be remembered as those who paved the way for new thespians.
