The Nashoba fan section was at an all-time high last Friday night. Unlike Homecoming games in past years, this event was not a flop; the 2014 homecoming game had the best fan turn out yet. The bleachers were packed and fans were decked out in their best white attire and bottles of baby powder were ready to be airborne. The high spirits only increased along with the Chieftains score, ultimately resulting in victory and thrilling the fans.

During half time, the class Homecoming King’s and Queen’s were announced. Freshmen class King and Queen were Quinn O’Hagan and Isabell Stringfellow, Sophomores Will Cruikshank and Paige Farren,  Juniors Mark Allaire and Kali Cook, and Seniors Lucas DeLisle and Sarah Gaffney. Congratulations to the winners and the nominees.

Cheerleaders from the elementary schools led cheers during half-time, keeping the spirit alive. Younger football players from the district also came out to see where their hard work could take them.

During the week, the senior class sold rally towels to enhance the fan-driven hype. To improve the fan energy and support, Senior Kylie Lance tweeted, “Bring baby powder to the whiteout football game on Friday; let’s get this [game] poppin’.” And students did not disappoint. After the team returned from half-time, Senior Sarah Clopeck led the “I believe” chant and towards the end, the fans shot the baby powder in the air, coating everyone in white.

Even students agreed. “It really brought us together as a school.” Junior Kayla Lawlor reminisced. Alicia Burrows commended the popular opinion, saying, “The baby powder was fun.”

The Chieftains crushed Marlborough with a score of 21-14, beginning a hopeful trend for future victories. Nashoba hopes to see the same fan representation at upcoming games, so be there or be square.
