Nashoba Girls Soccer had an incredible game Sunday beating Westborough 1 to 0 in the Division 1 Semifinal game now carrying them into the championship. Senior Hannah Konash scored the first and only goal of the game 24 seconds into the double over-time shift putting the Chieftains in the lead.

In the second over-time forward Sarah Clopeck broke down the right wing and made an exceptional pass to Konash who carried the ball down the field, managing to get it past a defender to score.

During the game, Senior Kylie Lance controlled midfield while the defense protected the net.

By winning, the girls advance in the season and played No. 4 Algonquin last Saturday on Nashoba’s own.

According to athletic director, Tania Rich, “It was a great weekend to be a Chieftain.” Not only did the Soccer team dominate on the field, but Girls Field Hockey did as well.

Field Hockey played an incredible game on Saturday November 8th against Quabbin for the District Championship game and brought home a win of 3 to 2.

The team took their motivation on to their next game Wednesday November 12th, playing a tight game against Long Meadow resulting in a 3 to 2 win. Emma Caviness, Olivia Hurd, and Olivia Magliozzi scored the only three goals of the night.

Caviness scored the first goal, putting the Chieftains in the lead within the first four minutes of the game. Long Meadow boosted their intensity and scored twice, but Magliozzi scored off a pass from Caviness and Hurd followed with their fifth and final goal of the night.

Teammate Tess Anderson played a hard and tough game until she broke her collarbone.

Former team member, Michelle Farnsworth continues to be the girls inspiration and can be found at almost every game, cheering her friends on as their No. 1 fan.

NFH played their last game of the season against Acton-Boxborough Sunday, November 16th at WPI. They played a great defensive game and certainly held their own on the field despite losing, 1 to 0.

Girls Soccer plays in the state semis game against West Springfield at Nashoba, following an incredible victory against Algonquin. The game starts at 5 pm. Come out and show support for our players.

Nashoba athletics has made history this fall sports season, and for some, it’s not over yet.
