Former New England Patriot Aaron Hernandez was found guilty of murder in the first degree on Wednesday, April 15th in a Fall River courtroom. As the jury gave their verdict, Hernandez shook his head and looked to his sobbing fiancee and mother and mouthed the words, “It’s okay.” Hernandez faces mandatory life in prison without parole.

Hernandez was charged with killing of Odin Lloyd, on June 17th 2013. He was found shot and abandoned in an industrial yard. With the murder charge, he was also found guilty of unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition.

The trial against Hernandez was nine weeks, and the jurors analyzed the trial for about 36 hours before reaching a verdict. They also heard testimonies from 135 witnesses, including Patriots’ owner Robert Kraft. Hernandez’s contract was $40 million with the team at the time of the trial.

Evidence in the trial was also collected and connected Hernandez to two more murder charges in a separate case in Boston. The trials are scheduled in May, but officials say that it will be pushed back.
