Nashoba softball has set many challenging goals this year. The 2015 season is getting heated with 13 games already played and 5 more left to go.  The team only needs two more wins against a league team and they will be in the running for the playoffs to win league title. Because their record is 8-5-0, the team has a red target on their back. Although they lost many great seniors last year, including star pitcher, Emily Sargent, the current team has many remaining players that stepped up to the plate and have proven themselves.

The 2015 team is young with 4 sophomores who have been working hard out on the mound and two freshman on the team who have shown tremendous growth thus far. The five seniors have taken on a leadership role and inspire the underclassmen to do their best and take the Hudson tournament and make it to playoffs; the goal is to ultimately win the league title.

The season started off on a rocky note, because the team played two of the best teams in the league, Algonquin and Shrewsbury. Nashoba lost both of those by 1 run.

Coach Kendall comments, “has not seen our defense be as good until this year. When the girls played Quabbin they had no errors throughout the game.”  Not only does the girls varsity team have a solid defense they have top Midland B hitters on the team including Erin Cressman,Gina Hinkley, Sarah Gaffney, Victoria Tuttle and Hannah Gaffney.  The team has already accomplished one of their goals by winning the Cheryl Jones Hudson Tournament and the hard working girls are very close to winning the league. ¨This team has come a long way with many teams underestimating them and coming back for revenge.” Kendall confirms.“We are a strong and loud team, and have tons of talent on the team” The girls hope to achieve more of their goals and with only three remaining home games, they have a very good shot at going all the way. Good luck to Nashoba Softball throughout the remainder of their season.
