This past Saturday, Nashoba’s basketball-wielding superstars stormed Clark University Athletic Center to square off against the Groton-Dunstable Crusaders in the championship game of the Large School Division. The Chieftains took aim at their first title in the Clark tournament since 1977.

At the end of the first quarter, the Crusaders were leading with a score of 16-15. Despite being down when going into the second quarter, the Chieftains proved they were far from beaten. The team came alive and blasted the score to 31-21 by halftime. The rest of the game was dominated by strong playing from every member of the Nashoba team. The Chieftains soared to victory with a final score of 55-43, a landmark achievement for a team that had not had a title in this tournament for almost four decades.

Sophomore guard, Justin Pierce, and Junior Captain, Andrew Snoddy, both secured 12 points apiece. Snoddy obliterated Groton-Dunstable’s morale with two slam-dunks in the second half, and Junior Andrew Fish had a strong performance with five blocks. Senior Captain Tony Kennon, and Junior Trevor Manyak both played a great all-round game by performing offensively and defensively for the Chieftains.

The team’s spirit was very high following their powerful victory at Clark. Their ability to have a positive attitude on and off of the court is a huge part of being a successful, winning team. It is almost playoff time, and The Tribe will be there to support the team every step of the way. Let’s go Chieftains!
