Nashoba Field Hockey Is Undefeated

Nashoba field hockey is in the midst of an undefeated season, with a current record of 8-0-2. Led by captains Mckenna Hannigan and Courtney Cote, the field hockey team has been successful against many opponents, including Groton-Dunstable, Fitchburg, Marlborough, and Leominster. The team is looking poised to make another run for the Division 1 Championship later on this fall.

On Monday, October 5th, the field hockey team played their annual Michelle Game, which honors Michelle Farnsworth, who lost her life to cancer almost three years ago. The girls wore teal, made signs, and dedicated the game to their teammate. The team came out with a 2-1 win over Leominster.

Standout performances this season by many players, such as goalkeepers Caylie McMahon and Julia Straub, as well as strikers Gigi Fay and Erica Spallone, have contributed to the team’s success. Chloe Spedden, Jane Bonazzoli, Hannah Gaffney, and Lauren Hill have also had strong performances. Natalie Brown earned a hat trick, which is 3 goals in one game, last Wednesday as they shut out rival Fitchburg with a score of 5-0.

With the win over Fitchburg, the girls earned a spot in the championship tournament for the post-season. With a strong performance for the first portion of the season, the Nashoba Field Hockey Team’s chances of receiving the Division 1 Championship title are looking better than ever.

The girls are still undefeated as of October 11th.
